Here in the Mid-Atlantic, we don’t usually have to worry about creating an evacuation plan or boarding up our homes like our friends in Florida and the Carolinas do. The 2021 Atlantic hurricane season started June 1^st and goes until November 30^th. Traditionally, September is the busiest month for hurricane activity.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts another above-normal hurricane season for 2021. The good news is that it’s not expected to be as busy as last year’s record-breaking hurricane season. But NOAA officials remind us to take last season as a reminder to all of us in coastal regions or areas prone to inland flooding to be prepared.
